Course Entry Requirements

International Students
Domestic Students

All International Students Applying to Enter Course Being Offered by DIT :

  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Must demonstrate a good command of written and spoken English. Has to submit IELTS 5.5 score on average or equivalent. However, if a student falls into one of the following student categories, he/she is exempt from providing evidence of English language proficiency requirements with visa application :

    • students enrolled in fulltime school studies as a principal course, including secondary exchange programmes; postgraduate research courses; standalone English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS); and Foreign Affairs or Defence sponsored students

    • students who have completed at least two years’ study in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland

    • students who have successfully completed in Australia in the English language either the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or 50% of studies at the Certificate IV or higher level, in the two years before applying for the student visa.

  • High school certificate that is equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification.

  • Additionally, student may need to meet course specific entry requirements, if any.
  • May or may not demonstrate suitable work or life experience

  • Must meet the following Student Visa 500 subclass requirements –

    • Be a genuine temporary entrant – Readmore

    • Demonstrate financial capacity –Readmore

    • Hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) – Readmore

    • Meet the personal health requirements – Readmore

    • Be of good character – Readmore

  • Must be 18 years of age or above.
  • Must have completed Australian year 12 certificate or equivalent of school studies. 
  • Must pass the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test at exit level-3 or above; within the last 12 months from the time of admission.
  • Additionally, student may need to meet course specific entry requirements, if any.
